Buah Kawis dan Manfaatnya untuk Kesehatan Tubuh

Buah kawis mengandung beragam kandungan nutrisi dan mineral, seperti protein, lemak, karbohidrat, serat, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C, fosfor, magnesium, kalsium, zat besi, selenium, zinc, dan antioksidan.

Nah, dengan beragam kandungan di atas, berikut ini adalah manfaat buah kawis yang bisa diperoleh:

  • Mengobati diare

Buah kawis bisa digunakan sebagai pengobatan tradisional untuk mengobati diare. Diare adalah kondisi yang ditandai peningkatan frekuensi buang air besar dan perubahan konsistensinya menjadi encer.

Manfaat buah kawis untuk mengatasi diare berasal dari adanya kandungan zat tanin. Tanin merupakan antioksidan yang dapat membentuk endapan protein di usus. Endapan protein tersebut mampu mencegah penyerapan zat beracun penyebab diare.

  • Mengobati disentri

Selain bisa mengurangi frekuensi buang air besar, kandungan nutrisi di dalam buah kawis juga bisa mengobati salah satu penyebab diare, yaitu disentri. Disentri adalah infeksi pada usus yang menyebabkan diare yang disertai feses berdarah atau berlendir.

Disentri disebabkan oleh infeksi bakteri Shigella ataupun parasit Entamoeba Histolytica, yang masuk ke dalam saluran pencernaan karena mengonsumsi makanan atau minuman yang tidak bisa dijamin kebersihannya.

Mengonsumsi buah kawis dapat membantu mengobati disentri karena adanya kandungan vitamin A, vitamin C, selenium, dan zinc. Vitamin C pada buah kawis memiliki peran penting dalam mengobati disentri karena memiliki efek antibakteri.

Sementara itu, vitamin A, selenium, dan zinc, merupakan nutrisi dan mineral yang dapat meningkatkan pertahanan tubuh untuk melawan parasit.

  • Mengobati sakit tenggorokan

Sakit tenggorokan bisa disebabkan oleh radang akibat infeksi virus atau bakteri. Penurunan kadar kolesterol jahat berkaitan erat dengan berkurangnya risiko penumpukan plak yang bisa menyumbat pembuluh darah. Dengan begitu, risiko terjadinya penyakit jantung juga bisa berkurang.

  • Mencegah kanker

Kanker ditandai dengan pertumbuhan sel-sel secara tidak normal dengan sifat yang merusak jaringan normal yang ada di sekitarnya. Salah satu faktor yang dinilai bisa meningkatkan risiko terjadinya kanker adalah paparan radikal bebas yang terus-menerus dalam jangka waktu yang lama.

Buah kawis mengandung antioksidan yang diketahui bisa menangkal efek paparan radikal bebas. Inilah alasan mengapa buah kawis sering digadang-gadang bisa mencegah kanker.

Itulah beberapa manfaat buah kawis untuk kesehatan. Akan tetapi, efektivitas buah kawis untuk mengobati dan mencegah berbagai penyakit di atas masih memerlukan penelitian lebih lanjut.
